• "Felicity's Show Flair" -- This story has been in the making since I first began riding. It includes horse incidents that have happened mostly to me, with a few thrown in that thankfully other riders have suffered instead.
• "A Scandalous Education" -- This essay was written in response to the events in my church, which elicited a strong response from the parishioners and prompted my novel. Despite its religious topic, it gained a Special Honorable Mention in an essay competition for ByLine Magazine.
